Prophets
Critic:-
Jesus was not forecasting the coming of Muhammad as Muslims falsely believe, but the coming of the Holy Ghost at Pentecost..
Comment:-
The Old Testament tells us :-
"I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee (Moses) and WILL PUT MY WORDS IN HIS MOUTH; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him." Deuteronomy 18:18-19
This is taken by Christians as a forecast of the coming of Jesus (saw). A Prophet is one who hears and speaks the Word of God. Jesus (saw) like Moses (saw) spoke the Words of God:-
"I can of mine own self do nothing: As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just because I SEEK NOT MINE OWN WILL, but the WILL OF THE FATHER which has sent me." John 6:30
"..I do nothing of myself; but as the Father has taught me, I speak these things." John 8:28
"For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me." John 6:38
"Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me." John 7:16
"For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak." John 12:49
Jesus (saw) also tells us:-
"I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will show you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you." John 16:12-14
This verse speaks about a person who hears and speaks. You can verify from the Quran and Hadith that Muhammad (saw) did speak what he heard from God and did glorify Jesus. He did receive the Spirit of Truth.
As for the Holy Spirit, it was always with Jesus. It descended on him at his baptism when he was 30 years old. (Luke 3:22-23) If Jesus could not make his followers understand while he was with them, it is unlikely that they should understand after his departure. While he was with them he kept them in the name of the Father, not his own name.
"While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name." John 17:12
Jesus (saw) also tells us:-
"Whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of Man (Jesus) it shall be forgiven him; but unto him that blasphemes against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven." Luke 12:10
"And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? There is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments." Matthew 19:17
"But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth: for the Father seeks such to worship." John 4:22-24
Jesus did not ask anyone to worship him. That is a complete contradiction of his mission.
