Barbarity
Critic:-
I could go into a long historical discussion about how Islam is more barbaric than other religions, but what would be the point. It doesn't matter if Islam is more barbaric or less barbaric; the important thing is that it is barbaric. Our choices are not limited to Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. There is no requirement for mankind to have a religion.
Comment:-
In so far as human beings have a spiritual side and are aware of it then religion is an integral part of man.
Spirituality implies that man has consciousness, conscience and will. If he loses these then he becomes an automaton and will probably be destroyed.
Religion is a consciously constructed way of life. It is objective. That is, those who are more conscious than others give guidance and recommend it to others.
It is human beings who are barbaric and primitive. The function of Religion is cause psychological or spiritual development. Though not the primay aim, this has the side effect of making them more civilized.
As for civilization and barbarism that is an entirely subjective judgment and varies with the prejudices of people. Many Muslims think that the people of USA and other Western nations are mostly very barbaric, with immature and primitive psychological development. This judgment is based on the fact that these societies, specially the US one is very violent, depraved, shameless, insensitive, crude in language and behaviour, where crime, psychopathy , neurosis and psychosis are rampant. An increasing number of people are egotistical, self-centered, greedy, aggressive, artificial, hypocritical, materialistic, unfriendly, hostile, dangerous, two-faced, arrogant, hard-hearted, profane, devious, treacherous, cunning, cruel, vicious, cynical, full of lust with rather primitive and childish motives, ambitions and behaviour patterns. There is increasing mistreatment and abuse of children, violence against women and the weak and elderly, infanticide, adultery, disloyalty and chating. There is economic exploitation, political corruption, wide spread injustice , ignorance, fantasy and superstition despite greater prosperity and opportunities for education. They polute the worlds air, sea and land, waste its resources, destroy the flora and fauna, cause ecological imbalance, impoverish and plunder the rest of the earth's population, cause economic and political intrigue and mischief world wide and corrupt the rest of the world by exporting their degenerate culture. The governments and their agencies are secretive and dominated by psychopaths without conscience who are not reluctant to deceive the people and experiment on them. This barbarism is demonstrated in the development of methods of control, manipulation, spying, weapons of mass destruction, and the two world wars where killing, mutilation, destruction and torture were done on an unprecedented scale.
Whereas, it was the Nazis of Germany who are accused of enslavement, atrocities, torture and mass murders, the Concentration Camps were invented by the British under Kitchener, and similar barbarities were also committed by citizens of the USA and South America, the French, Spanish, Russians, Serbs, and other European peoples.
It is, of course, also true that the same tendencies can be found among all peoples and that the West also has many scientists and others who are working to reduce the damage.
Objective judgments are concerned only with whether something is True or False, Good or Evil, Useful or Harmful. But these judgments require intelligence, knowledge, thought, and research. They are certainly not within the capacity of narrow minds such as that of the prejudiced who write naively and one-sidedly on these Internet sites.
Other judgments such as old fashioned, new fangled, modern, primitive, mature, immature and so on are quite valueless.
Critic:-
One of the greatest concerns of all civilized cultures is the alarming incidence of violent crimes in today's world. Muslims are responsible for most of these. Terrorism is an Islamic way of life.
Comment:-
In fact most Muslims are a very friendly, generous, sincere, peaceful and moral people.
The most crimes of violence are committed in the United States. The number of murders per year in the USA are greater than in the rest of world put together. It also has the most cases of assault and injury.
There are so called terrorists throughout the world and most of them are not muslim. There are Christian, Hindu, Jewish, Buddhist, Atheists and most of these are so by name only. We find them in Ireland, Europe, South America, USA, Ceylon, Japan, Serbia etc.
Some are fighters for freedom and resist oppression and injustice. There is a great amount of injustice in the world. As long as there is injustice there will be opposition to it. Injustice is not civilized. And opposing it is not a crime.
The violence done by Big Business and by States which have impoverished, devastated and caused the suffering and death of millions throughout the world goes unnoticed by hypocrites. No doubt they benefit from these crimes.
There have been two World Wars, and numerous civil wars in most European countries, the USA, Russia, various parts of Asia and Africa and elsewhere which had nothing whatever to do with Islam. Millions were tortured and killed by Stalin and Hitler. There have been many bloody religious wars between Christian sects, and their churhes have also mounted several Crusades against Islam. There were invasions by Romans under Caear, Alexander and Chengis Khan involving much destruction, plunder, torture and death. The Europeans in a sense can be regarded as a scourge, a ravaging disease, which plundered, impoverished, enslaved, destroyed civilizations and decimated the populations in South and North America, Africa, Australia and Asia.
It should have been evident to a normal intelligence with some knowledge of history that violence, war, depravity are human characteristics quite irrespective of religion. Indeed, it is religion which tries to control these and transform man.
