Prophecy about Muhammad
Critic:-
I am afraid that Mohammed does not appear outside the Holy Quran, neither in the Old Testament nor in the New Testament.
Comment:-
You cannot with truth say that something does not exist, but only that you do not know it exists.
Christians believe that Jesus (saw) is mentioned in the Old Testament with some justification. Jews deny this because they do not think there is any justification for this. If they were to admit it they would have to become Christian. But they have committed themselves to Judaism.
Muslims believe that Muhammad (saw) is mentioned in the Old And New Testaments with equal justification. Christians deny this because they do not think there is any justification for this. If they were to admit it they would have to become Muslim. But they have committed themselves to Christianity.
It is all a matter of perception and this is based on desire and previously held beliefs.
There is another way of looking at things:-
The Prophecies tend to be general. Therefore, they apply to any particular case which fits them.
If, for instance, it had been prophecied in ancient times that a Prophet will come in times of spiritual darkness to renew religion and he will receive revelations ( i.e. speak as he hears from God) then this would be fulfilled in Moses or Jesus or Muhammad (peace and blessings on them all). There is no need at all that any particular person should be named. The controversy between the supporters of each of them would be absurd.
Indeed, it is based on a very narrow mental attitude, a kind of stupidity, an idolatry owing to fixation on a person or a particular formulation of religion. It keeps the mind trapped in this prison and prevents people from understanding what God has in fact sent.
This is like the school boy who cannot advance from Arithmetic to Algebra because the letters are not numbers and he cannot grasp that the letters might stand for any suitable number that fits the formula.
Had the scriptures named the person to come, then any number of people with the same name specially given to them, could have claimed that they were that person. But the Scripture avoids this by naming the main characteristic by which the person could be recognized.
